On 17-18 April 2013, Kyiv hosted the First Kyiv International Scientific Conference "Scientific and Methodological Foundations of Medical Geology". The Tutkovsky Institute, Nadra Group and the Ukrainian Association of Geologists were organizers of the event. The forum was held with the assistance of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the State Service of Geology and Mines of Ukraine and sponsorship support by the State Commission of Ukraine for Minerals and Nadra Group.

The first Kyiv Open Olympiad for Young Geologists was organized by an organizing committee headed by Kateryna Derevskaya, Doctor of Geological Sciences. The organizing committee and the jury involved experts from the Public Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine, NAS of Ukraine, the Department of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council, the Faculty of Geology of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Borys Grinchenko University of Kyiv, Ukrainian Association of Geologists, theTutkovsky Institute.

Activity of Geological Clubs as a Reflection of the Youth Geological Movement in Zhytomyr Region

Among the priorities of the Association is to support the work of natural, geological and local history clubs for the student youth. Geological movement of student youth in Zhytomyr region emerged in the '70s of the XX century. At that time, it gained enormous scope in the Soviet Union, including in Ukraine. Zhytomyr region was one of the best in training young geologists. In the early 1990s, after the collapse of the USSR, the student geological movement went into decline, and in most regions of Ukraine, this area of extracurricular work ceased to exist. In Zhytomyr region, the geological youth movement has survived to this day; it has many years of achievements, traditions and is gradually gaining momentum.
