The Association initiates Ukrainian and international projects and joins such projects of its partners. Throughout the entire history of its existence, UAG has been creating educational, enlightening, professional and other projects on the territory of Ukraine.
In order to expand professional contacts, the Ukrainian Association of Geologists became a member of international public geological organizations: The European Federation of Geologists (EFG), The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and other leading professional organizations and constantly participates in their events.
The Association actively cooperates with the European Union, in particular in projects related to “green transformation”. About 100 directives, regulations, conventions, which Ukraine has signed, apply directly or indirectly to the geological field in the following areas: Environmental management and integration of environmental policy into other sectoral policies; Ambient air quality; Waste and resource management; Water quality and management of water resources, including the marine environment; Industrial pollution and technogenic threats; Energy saving, energy efficiency, energy security; Climate change and protection of the ozone layer; Subsoil use and business climate. As part of the “green transformation”, the activation of cooperation and the building of a strategic partnership between Ukraine and the EU in the field of critical raw materials, the Ukrainian Association of Geologists officially joined The European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA) on December 23, 2020.
Even in the difficult times of the war, the UAG participates in new projects, such as the project with the participation of the EU regarding geothermal fluids. The project involves exploration of geothermal energy, which will unlock a potentially huge untapped resource and deploy solutions to help Europe achieve the strategic goals of the EU Green Deal and the Sustainable Development Agenda. The Ukrainian Association of Geologists also participates in the project of creation of an EU geological agency aimed at standardization, dissemination of information, awareness raising and communication, creation of networks, political dialogues and joint learning and research, in particular, research on the design of new infrastructure, strategic planning activities and coordination between programs in different countries.
