The current version of the Classification of Mineral Reserves and Resources of the State Subsoil Fund has been analyzed in this paper, and amendments that are caused by many factors (ecological and socio-economic factors, legislation amendments, updating of international classification systems, influence, etc.) have been suggested. The transition to international standards for reporting on mineral reserves, which also requires the introduction of amendments to the Classification, is a crucial condition for increasing the attractiveness of Ukraine’s mining industry. Suggested editorial and terminological amendments are intended to ensure the improvement of regulatory and methodological approaches to calculation, geological and economic assessment, state accounting and reporting on the utilization of mineral reserves and resources, considering the degree of their socio-economic and commercial significance, the degree of detail, feasibility study and the preparedness of mineral deposits for commercial development, the degree of geological study and confidence, as well as the basic principles of quantitative assessment of mineral resources.
