Earlier this year, the Youth with Researchers programme kicked off with an engaging start at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería (ETSI) in Seville. This initiative aims to encourage high-schools students to delve into research projects alongside faculty and research experts.

The day commenced with students being warmly welcomed to ETSI. A detailed outline of the session was provided, setting the tone for an enriching experience ahead. Students were then led to the laboratory area, immersing them in a hands-on exploration of machinery. They received insightful explanations about the equipment, notably witnessing the functionality of a thermal turbomachine used in aeronautical transport. The interactive nature of this segment was met with enthusiasm from the students, who found the visit both informative and captivating.

The first session of the Youth with Researchers programme laid a strong foundation for the upcoming research projects that students will develop. Participants were introduced to the realm of research, which they will actively contribute to during the programme’s duration and roadmaps were delineated for their projects.

The projects’ focus on implementing sustainability measures garnered significant student engagement, as they recognise the tangible impact on their schools and the broader CEEGS project. Moreover, the sessions allowed to address pertinent contemporary issues such as the energy crisis, renewable technology development, sustainability, and climate change. The dialogue sparked interest and motivation among participants, setting the stage for their forthcoming presentations at the final congress.
