Young Spiritual and Terrestrial Treasure seekers met in Kyiv. Stage III

The final stage of the All-Ukrainian competition for the defense of research work of students - members of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine statred on March 23 in two departments: philosophy and social sciences and earth sciences.


53 students had the opportunity to compete in the sections of geography and landscape science, geology, geochemistry, and mineralogy, as well as climatology and meteorology.

Corresponding Member of NAS of Ukraine, Director of the Institute of Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Ore Formation named after M.P. Semenenko Oleksandr Ponomarenko told the young participants about his scientific specialization - determination of isotopic age, that is, the time of formation of certain rocks and minerals. Now the institute has a young galaxy of radioisotopes, and the collaboration with the Geological Faculty of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is ongoing. Therefore, Oleksandr Ponomarenko has expressed his hope that with the advent into the field of the current members of JAS the high world-class results will be obtained.

In turn, Professor of the Department of Oil and Gas Geology of the Geology Department of the Taras Shevchenko National University, Doctor of Geological Sciences, Head of the Jury of the Section of Geology, Geochemistry and Mineralogy Viktor Ohar and Associate Professor of the same Department, Candidate of Geological Sciences Maryna Krochak congratulated the participants of the section on the successful section.

"Unfortunately, there aren't enough seats to mention everyone who deserved it," Viktor Ohar said, "By the way, I would like to remind you that the defense in the section took place on the eve of our professional holiday - Geologist's Day. Those of you who are going to become a geologist, geophysicist, geochemist or choose some other area of this industry, get used to celebrating this holiday."

Deputy Chairman of the Board of the All-Ukrainian Public Organization "Ukrainian Association of Geologists" Lyudmila Gafych, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nadra Group Hryhoriy Kashuba and General Director of the Tutkovsky Institute Hanna Liventseva sincerely wished success to future geologists, handing them small souvenirs - minerals and books of professional orientation.

The closing ceremony ended with the most anticipated moment - awarding the prize-winners of the competition. The lucky ones received medals, diplomas, and gifts from the National Center Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine".
