The event took place in the assembly hall of the Faculty of Economics, where staff and students were welcomed by:
- Rector and Vice-Rector of the University for Scientific Work,
- representatives of 3 institutes of NAS of Ukraine,
- deans of 2 faculties of KNU,
- deans and directors of 3 specialized faculties of other universities of Ukraine,
- Chairman and representatives of 11 geological enterprises headed by the Chairman of the Public Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine,
- representatives of two public organizations,
- graduates of the geological faculty of previous years.
The overcrowded hall happily greeted the concert program involving musical performances by: students of the Institute and College of Geological Exploration Technologies, as well as the Vesnyanka folklore and ethnographic band, which was created on the basis of the geological faculty in 1958.
During the congratulations from the guests, the staff and students of the Institute of Geology received 46 awards from their university, the State Geological and Mineral Resources Service of Ukraine, Naftogaz of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Association of Geologists, "Znannya", and many gifts from fans of the Institute.
The Faculty of Geology has trained tens of thousands of specialists in the exploration industry during 75 years of its operation. They all maintain close relations with each other and with their Alma mater. The milestone of this event was the public organization “Association of Graduates of the Geological Faculty of KNU named after Taras Shevchenko”.
Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Faculty of Geology showed great respect for the Institute by both academic and educational institutions, as well as demonstrated close ties with the structures of the Public Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine, leading enterprises and joint-stock companies of Ukraine, where many graduates of the Institute, who are in great demand in the exploration labor market, are employed.
