The main achievement of the Ukrainian Association of Geologists' project "Depths of Earth, Depths of Soul" was the inclusion of Fundamentals of Geology in the list of school subjects initially in the form of experiment in secondary school No. 256, and a year later in secondary school No.13 in Kyiv. To master the complex process of natural mineral formation, a course on practical crystallography for the cultivation of artificial crystals of some inorganic compounds was introduced.

The program is based on the academic discipline "General Geology" for higher education institutions with simplified and abbreviated material. The course, which is designed for one year, has been taught for two years. It has made it possible to stay on interesting sections of geology, objects, and processes, to take time to watch thematic videos, to visit various geological institutions (Faculty of Geology, Geological Museums etc). As a result, this subject was easily perceived by children not only as new educational information but also as a kaleidoscope of interesting phenomena and objects, while maintaining the order and systematic teaching of the basics of geology. Thus, the study of geology by pupils of 8th grade showed that the obtained knowledge is interesting, necessary and perceived quite easily. During the year, the students not only got acquainted with the new field of knowledge but also understood the interconnection of all-natural sciences - physics, chemistry, geography, biology.

In addition to the pupils of secondary school No. 256, the members of the Research and Practical Center "Researcher" of the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth (KPCY) are also involved in the education process. In 2012, a geological lecture was established. Lectures with vivid presentations were held by the faculty and research staff of the Geological Faculty M.D. Krochak, L.V. Popova, O.V. Omelchuk. In 2012 and 2013, we celebrated many anniversaries. in particular birthdays of prominent geological scientists whose lives and scientific activities were related to Ukraine. These dates are marked by a number of activities in the KPCY. There were scientific and practical readings dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of V.I. Vernadsky and the 150th anniversary of the birth of P.A. Tutkovsky, the 100th anniversary of the birth of E.K. Lazarenko. The pupils prepared reports on the life and activities of these scientists, their most important achievements and scientific contribution to the development of native geology. Each of these events brought together more than a dozen school students together with mentors.

In this way, the students become involved in the study of geology. Some of them, when choosing their future profession, will come to study at the Geological Faculty of KNU.
