On this occasion, on 03 March 2008, the assembly hall of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine hosted a solemn joint meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Geological Sciences and the Tutkovsky Institute.
The ceremonial meeting was opened by the Director of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Academician Petro Feodosiiovych Hozhyk.
The opening address was made by the Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Association of Geologists Pavlo Oleksiiovych Zahorodniuk. The Association founded the Tutkovsky Institute. It is a non-profit project to disseminate and deepen geological knowledge, disseminate new methods and technologies for studying the geological environment and natural resources.
Dmytro Olyseiovych Makarenko delivered a report titled “Life and career of an outstanding geologist, founder of the Institute of Geological Sciences, one of the organizers and first leaders of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, academician P.A.Tutkovsky”. P.F.Hozhyk, M.M.Ivanyk, and N.V.Maslun delivered a scientific report titled “P.A.Tutkovsky as a founder of the micro-paleontological school".
The best students-geologists were presented by the Dean of the Geological Faculty of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Serhii Andriiovych Vyzhva.
Future scientists Anastasia Leonovich (geologist, IV year student), Ihor Kuzmanenko (geologist, II year master student) and Julia Kirpach (geologist, II year master student) received the award named after P.A.Tutkovsky, established by the Tutkovsky Institute.
