International Symposium in Sambia reveals Secrets of Amber

The International Symposium on Amber Production and Processing in Sambia was held on May 12-14. The symposium was attended by about one hundred scientists from Belarus, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine. All participants are leading experts, professionals in the field of geology, mineralogy and paleogeography of fossil resins, biological inclusions in amber, art processing and aesthetics of sunstone, history of amber production and archeological findings of amber products.


Ukraine was represented by scientists and producers from the State Gemological Center of Ukraine, the Geological Museum of the National Scientific Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Zhitomir State Technological University, the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Institute of Geological Sciences of NAS of Ukraine, the Kyiv Geological Exploration College, the Ukrainian Association of Geologists, GeoMandry LLC, Pivnichgeologiya.

The most important task of the symposium is to promote the further development of the science of amber, to give scientists the opportunity to exchange information about scientific achievements that can give impetus to the development of amber production in the regions of the Baltic-Dnipro Amber-bearing Province.The sections heard and discussed 53 reports on a wide range of theoretical and applied issues regarding all areas of the amber industry and all, without exception, regions that are part of the Baltic-Dnipro Amber Province.
