International Amber Researcher Symposium in Poland

The Ukrainian Association of Geologists was represented at the International Amber Researcher Symposium “Amber. Deposits - Collections - the Market” held in Gdansk, Poland, on March 21-24, 2013


The symposium was attended by more than 100 scientists from Poland, Great Britain, Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Russia, Austria, France, USA, Lebanon, China. The Forum of Researchers was dedicated to discussing a wide range of issues in the amber industry. The symposium presented 60 papers, including 17 poster presentations, which in one way or another covered the major problems of geology, gemology, and paleogeography of fossil resins by Mesozoic and Cenozoic from different regions of the world. The symposium also considered the latest discoveries in archeology, the use of amber in medicine, jewelry, as well as issues of economy, trade related to the industry, etc. The reports were devoted to the diagnosis of fossil resins, the study of plant and animal inclusions and new paleontological discoveries.
