The purpose of the event was to get acquainted with the problems and basic principles of a new scientific direction, devoted to the study of the impact of geological objects and phenomena on the health of the population.
Ukraine has a sufficient amount of natural resources necessary for the development of the system of medical treatment and rehabilitation of the population: the balneological potential of salt deposits in the west of the country, various natural healing mineral waters, and unique climatic conditions of different regions.
The organization of the conference aroused great interest among domestic specialists: geologists, physicians, representatives of related specialties, state institutions and departments, academic and industry institutes, commercial enterprises, medical institutions, resort clinics, and among foreign specialists. The geography of the cities represented by the participants of the forum was quite diverse: Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kremenchuk, Lutsk, Lviv, Odessa, Romny; Simferopol, Sevastopol, Yalta, Solotvyno, Uzhgorod, Ternopil, Kharkiv; as well as Baku (Azerbaijan); Brest, Minsk (Belarus); Bucharest (Romania); Voronezh, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Tyumen, Ufa (the Russian Federation).
The conference organizers registered 133 participants together with the authors of the reports. The abstracts were published as a separate collection.
