Attending the Annual Exhibition of the Society of exploration geophysicists (SEG) in San Antonio, Texas

Scientific Secretary of Ukrainian Association of Geologists P. Gryschuk, who was the head of the SEG student unit at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv for the years 2002-2018, was awarded a grant for the best SEG 2018 student center for attending the SEG exhibition.


More than 7,000 participants and 180 companies and organizations participated in the SEG19 San Antonio TX 15-20 September 2019 International Exposition 89th Annual Meeting. The technical program has approximately 1070 presentations in 155 sections discussing unconventional resource technologies, exploration of the Permian Basin, Latin America, and a number of other topics such as Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), unmanned aerial vehicles, and analysis of many data along with infrastructure and environmental applications the use of geophysics and recent discoveries at sea. The event seeks to bring technology and people closer together to increase well-being. This is a great opportunity to chat with leading applied geophysicists, thought leaders, and technical experts under one roof.

At the suggestion of SEG organizers, P. Gryschuk participated in some of the annual gatherings at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Together with experts in geophysical methods, on September 16 he mentored 50 students, and on September 17 he was present at the awards ceremony. In 2019, the 2018 SEG Kyiv Student Center entered the top 10 of the group with 250 branches in the world. The two leaders STUDENT SECTION of SOCIETY OF EXPLORATION GEOPHYSICISTS (SEG) of the Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University (KTSNU), 4th year students group geophysicists - Roman Petrokushin and Artem Kornienko visited the exhibition in the city of San Antonio. Roman took part in the program Student Leadership Symposium (SLS), and Artem represents the center, which was the best last year.

Meetings were held with representatives of public geological organizations: the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), SEG, the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) to deepen cooperation with the Ukrainian Association of Geologists (UAG).

Also there were visits to scientific sections on gravimagnetic methods and logging studies.
