The 32nd International Geological Congress took place in Florence on August 20 - 28, 2004. The entire European geological community finally waited for the world geological congress to take place again on the territory of our continent.

Ukrainian experts, members of the Ukrainian Association of Geologists were among participants.

In many respects, the 32nd International Geological Congress (IGC), which set new standards for such events, has been off the scale. Its incredible thematic range came as a surprise even to the participants of previous congresses. None of the issues of geology, geophysics, geochemistry, environmental protection, and even geography and geodesy passed unnoticed in its sessions.

Moreover, a lot of new topics covered at its symposiums could easily bring together separate world-class scientific conferences. This is the unanimous opinion of the participants.
